The 3-day course will cover the topics of non-neoplastic and neoplastic lung, pleural and mediastinal pathology, focusing on the most important aspects for
daily routine sign-out. Particular attention will be paid to diagnostic criteria, current guidelines for reporting, and the most pertinent differential diagnoses for each entity presented. Apart from classic histomorphology and immunohistochemistry, we will also cover lung, pleural, and mediastinal cytology and molecular pathology including its methodological aspects. Participants will be provided with guidelines on the necessity to perform molecular analyses and we will discuss molecular and immunohistochemical predictive markers necessary for guiding therapeutic decision-making. Each course day will comprise an in-depth discussion of at least 20 cases, applying an interactive
approach, with live microscopic presentation of the cases alternating with some lectures where this format seems more suitable.
The course participants will have the opportunity to review the digitized cases (virtual microscopy) 4 weeks prior and after the course.
